The Rongai route is a popular trekking route on Mount Kilimanjaro, known for its scenic landscapes and relatively low traffic. Here is an overview of a typical 6-7 days Rongai route itinerary
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania and transfer to Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the day resting and preparing for the trek.
Day 2: Drive to the Rongai Gate and begin the trek through the forest zone, with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.
Day 3: Continue through the moorland zone, with the landscape becoming more rocky and barren. Camp overnight at Mawenzi Tarn
Day 4: Acclimatization day, with a hike to Mawenzi Ridge for stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Day 5: Trek through the alpine desert zone, with the landscape becoming more stark and barren. Camp overnight at Kibo.
Day 6: Summit day, with an early morning start to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Descend to Horombo camp for overnight
Day 7: Descend to the Marangu Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for a celebration dinner and overnight stay
